EDUCATE TO PREVENT - RESEARCH TO CURE
Today, 40 million people are estimated to be living with HIV/AIDS, of these, 37 million are adults and 2.5 million are children under the age of 15. An estimated 5 million people acquired the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) in 2003, including 4.2 million adults and 700,000 children under the age of 15. 3 million people from all walks of life, both sexes, young and old, straight and gay, have died of AIDS, including over 500,000 children under the age of 15. Despite massive research and educational efforts, a cure for HIV/AIDS remained elusive, the epidemic continues its growth, and society’s dark ignorance of the disease haunts its carriers.
The Red Ribbon Foundation was founded in 1993 in memory of Singer/songwriterThe Foundation was created to raise money for distribution to HIV/AIDS researchers, primarily in the field of pediatric AIDS research; to promote awareness of the disease through distribution of the Red Ribbon; and to educate the worldwide public through efforts such as our website, handing out informative materials on high school and college campuses, and holding events that bring an awareness of the disease.
We have created RedRibbon.com as a central repository of information relating to HIV/AIDS topics. It is a Community site, and our Community is the world, for disease knows no boundaries. Community is about communication and participation, loyalty, response and caring. The Community is here to help you in anyway it can.

Life and death decisions about HIV and AIDS are made every day not just in the doctor’s office but in Congress and statehouses. That’s why The Red Ribbon Foundation holds advocacy as a top priority. We make sure the most important voices are heard—the voices of millions of people in America today living with HIV and AIDS. We want lawmakers nationwide to hear loud and clear that curing HIV and AIDS is a top priority of the American people. |
